The Campus Ministry Center is pleased to be hosting an International Peacemaker Dinner on Thursday, October 17 at 6 p.m. with special guest speaker, the Rev. Nicole Ashwood. The dinner, co-sponsored by the Oxford Presbyterian Church Peacemaking Committee is free and open to the public. Rev. Ashwood will speak on “The Welcome Table: Peacemaking, Gender Justice, Racial Equality and Human Trafficking.” The program will end around 7:30 p.m. for those who have choir or other meetings to attend.
Nicole Ashwood who is from Jamaica, is an advocate for the voiceless, in particular youth and women, as she serves with the World Council of Churches (WCC) as a Mover for Gender Justice and works with the World Council of Reformed Churches (WCRC) and the Council for World Mission (CWM) on areas regarding gender-based violence. She recently travelled with WCRC and participated in a consultation on Human Trafficking in Cuba.
She enjoys writing liturgies, preparing Bible studies, combines her passion for youth with her enjoyment of music and drama and often experiments with contemporary secular pieces as part of the liturgical experience. A graduate of Eden Theological Seminary, Nicole is passionate about empowering the church for mission and serves as the Education in Mission Secretary for the Caribbean and North America Council for Mission – CANACOM.
