Today is the birthday of Jorge Luis Borges. In his stories he experiments with the concepts of time, and infinity, and labyrinths. Because of the themes of his work, critics use the term “The Borgesian Conundrum” to describe the question of whether “the author writes the story, or stories write the author.” Diane Wright will explore this idea with us in light of recent developments in neuroscience which indicate that many of the “conscious decisions” we make may not be so conscious after all.
