Sunday Service: “How is the Practice of Music a Spiritual Discipline?”

Practicing music is richer than just learning, playing or singing the notes more or less correctly.  It can be setting apart a special time, away from the activities of daily life, to become more aware of how creating sounds and listening mindfully to them may bring one into a transforming presence.  We UUs consider six sources that guide our faith.  The first is: “Direct experience of that transcending mystery and wonder, affirmed in all cultures, which moves us to a renewal of the spirit and an openness to the forces which create and uphold life.”  Do these words inspire you to practice in a different frame of mind?  Join some of the musicians in our midst who will share in words how they practice.  Service leader:  Kathleen Carels, who will be joined by other Hopedale musicians and music lovers.  Children’s RE: Activity in lower level during the service.
