The 17 th Century Life and UU-like Philosophy of Baruch Spinoza

Albert Einstein was asked, probably many times, if he believed in god. His reply was “I
believe in Spinoza’s god, who reveals himself in the lawful harmony of the world, not in a
god who concerns himself with fate and the doings of mankind.” Spinoza’s life as a lens
maker and his freedom to be a philosopher to propose “heresy” will be summarized.
